What will my Sex Life be Like After Surgery?

New York, NY – It’s common for men to wonder how they stack up when it comes to penis size. And for men who worry that their penis may be on the small side, this worry can invade all aspects of their lives. Lack of confidence can affect how they approach their lives, and invade into their most intimate moments.

Love coupleBut Dr. Elliot Heller, a NY plastic surgeon, has many years of experience in helping men overcome their lack of confidence concerning their penis size. Dr. Heller has had great success with penile enlargement surgery to help men take back control of their lives. But he says one of the most common questions he faces in consultations is “What will my sex life be like after surgery?”

“It’s only natural to wonder about this, and be concerned about how performance might be affected,” says Dr. Heller. “The simple answer is penile enhancement will improve your sex life. And that’s not necessarily because your penis will be longer or wider, but because you will feel more confident.”

Researchers say that men often have heightened anxiety about the size and girth of their penis. And if you’re already a bit nervous about it, that nervousness can spill over to the bedroom. And that’s why many men turn to enhancement procedures – to gain back their confidence so they can once again enjoy sexual activities.

How quickly you can resume to normal activities depends on the procedure you have chosen. And while you may be able to go back to work or the gym within a day or two following your procedure, it’s best to avoid sexual activity for the recommended amount of time to ensure the best results.

If you’ve opted for a fat transfer procedure, you can be back to sexual activity a week after. If you’ve chosen Alloderm or a ligament release, you’ll need to refrain from sexual activity for about four weeks.

“It is important to remember, however, that it can take several months to see the final results of your procedure,” says Dr. Heller. “Typically, by about three to six months following your procedure, your penis will be at its optimal length or girth. While it might require a bit of patience on your part to see the final results, it will be worth it.”

If you’ve spent a lifetime self-conscious about the size of your penis and that anxiety has affected your sex life, now is the time to schedule a consultation with Dr. Heller. Following your procedure, your penis will function normally, so there’s no cause for concern over the ability to get and maintain an erection. An erect penis may be slightly painful post-surgery, but the pain will go away quickly and your newly enlarged penis will be better than ever in no time.
