The Drugs That Can Kill Your Libido

NY Penis Enlargement SurgeryNew York, NY – When you think of drugs and their effects on libido, you might think of Viagra, which is intended to give a substantial boost in that department. Believe it not, quite a few drugs exist that can leave you less interested in sex and wondering why.

Medications

If you are taking medication and you are suddenly experiencing a low libido, you might want to talk to your doctor,” says NY penis enlargement specialist Dr. Elliot Heller.

Dr. Heller is a penis enlargement specialist on staff at Allure Plastic Surgery Center with locations in New York and New Jersey. He stresses never to stop taking medication without discussing the matter with a medical professional first, but that many of the popular ones prescribed can affect one’s sex drive.

Medications that have been shown to affect libido include antidepressants (both SSRIs and tricyclic), drugs used to treat enlarged prostate, anti-seizure drugs, Propecia which is used to treat hair loss, and drugs for diabetes.

Opioids, such as Vicodin, Oxycontin, and Percocet, have also been shown to lower one’s libido.

Dr. Heller says that doctors will often experiment with various drugs or dosages until the right fit is discovered. “You should be able to take the medications you need without suffering in the bedroom,” Dr. Heller says.

Over the Counter Drugs

Believe it not, many antihistamines, such as Benadryl and Chlor-Trimeton, are also linked to a decreased libido. Dr. Heller suggests that if these drugs are taken often enough, they may prove to have a longer-term problem on one’s sex life. He suggests finding alternate ways to treat allergies or to take them at strategic times when a low sex drive won’t be an issue.

Male Enhancement

Dr. Heller suggests anyone suffering from low libido to talk to their doctor. He also suggests they schedule a non-committal consultation at Allure Plastic Surgery Center to see if male enhancement can help them feel better about themselves in the bedroom, which can also boost one’s sex drive.

Dr. Heller offers both surgical and non-surgical male enhancement options to strengthen erections and enhance both the length and girth of the penis.
